Abstract

This study was performed to evaluated the major pathogenic organisms isolated from blood cultures and their antibiotics susceptibility for one year in 1988. The results were obtained as follows.
1. Total 14 species, 155 strains were isolated from blood cultures and frequently isolated organisms were E. coli(23.2%, 36strains), coagulase negative staphylococcus(13.5%, 2lstrains). Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas species(12.9%, 20strains) in order. Especially coagulase negative staphylococcus were isolated highly.
2. Staphylococcus aureus revealed over 50% susceptibility to Chloramphenicol, Neomycin and
Oxacillin, and highly resistant to Penicillin, Gentamicin, Kanamycin and Tetracycline.
3. E. coli were highly susceptible to Gentamicin, Amikacin, Tobramycin, Colistin and Neomy
cin, and relatively higher resistance to Ampicillin and Tetracycline.
4. Pseudomonas species revealed over 60% susceptibility to Colistin and Amikacin, but less
susceptible to Gentamicin and Tobramycin.
